Joe Burns is a singer/songwriter from Guelph, Ontario, who grew up in the rural town of Erin, taking guitar lessons at the town’s only music shop as a youngster. He began to hit his stride playing in bands in high school with his first band, District 118, becoming a high school favourite. While attending Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario, Burns was a regular performer at campus pubs and downtown establishments. During this time, he performed twice with his band at the annual Dionysus Festival. Burns has played in several bands over the years, performing both covers and originals. He is currently the lead singer for the cover band Grand River Band, and has been quietly recording his own music on the side with the help of talented producer and musician Patrick Corbett. Like many musicians, Joe’s early foray into songwriting found him writing about love and heartache. You’ll still find some of that on his new album, but over time his lyrics have matured. Touching on themes of nature and technology, love and faith, Joe colours his poetry with rich vocals and his own brand of folk rock alternative.
