Jontue Elan‘s style can be explained as Jazz Fusion with her smooth Jazz vocals and clever lyrics. Her songs are written from the heart and sung from the soul. Her influences include Norah Jones, Etta Fitzgerald, Bing Crosby, Feist, Louis Armstrong and Ray Charles to name a few.
Born and raised in small town Ontario, Jontue Elan has known what hard work, and loving music is all about from a young age. Jontue first started taking piano lessons when she was six, and her interest in music developed further when she studied the alto saxophone in band class. Her voice began developing when she decided to sing in the school choir, during her senior year. Although she was interested in photography, business and musical theatre, Jontue decided to pursue music at University. With a change of scenery, Jontue also decided to move out West, and began her degree in a Bachelor of Music majoring in Classical Voice.
It was at University where she had her first private voice lessons. After four years of voice lessons, Jontue took a special projects course and began developing this EP. She is thrilled to have been able to not only accomplish it but to release it, and go on to record another EP entitled “No Longer.” Jontue is now in the works of promoting her EP through upcoming shows in Canada and other countries. In 2013 Jontue Elan was nominated by the GMA Awards for, “Blues/Jazz Song of the Year – Oh Abbey”, and for “Blues/Jazz Album of the Year “Jontue Elan”. Jontue Elan had a Christmas wish come true, as her cover/single of, What Child Is This” was played on Faith Fm 93.7, and CBC Radio 89.1 this Christmas! Her music can be found on iTunes, and for more booking and information you can go to her website at www.jontueelan.com.
