NICK MACLEAN QUARTET
A fast rising star in Toronto’s jazz piano community, 25 year old Nick Maclean takes influences from Herbie Hancock’s Blue Note era records for his powerhouse quartet’s explorations of modern, original repertoire while paying tribute to some of the greatest improvisers in jazz history. The quartet recently debuted a host of new original material and also performed a number of tribute shows during the 2016 Toronto Jazz Festival including a tribute to Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock and Cole Porter. The quartet features one of Canada’s most provocative improvising trumpet playing iconoclasts BROWNMAN ALI, who will be producing the group’s upcoming debut release on Browntasauras Records.
