The Holy Smokes Music Festival is bringing several great musicians to Guelph this week. One name leaped out at me. Hamilton’s Terra LightfootTerra Lightfoot will be playing the Royal EMC Church (50 Quebec St) at 8:30 PM Saturday October 5th.
Terra is a fiery guitar player with a killer voice and songs that stick in your mind for all the right reasons. Her latest record, New Mistakes brings all of her influences to bear. From bluesy stomp to psychedelic gospel, to T. Rex fueled hooks, it’s a raw and soulful stew.
Opening for Terra is local country western band Nicolette and the Nobodies.
Fronted by Nicole Hoang, the band is supporting their latest recording, Devil’s Run. Devil’s Run is great blend of classic country stylings, delivered with a driving beat.
The night promises to be a fantastic night of roots rock, country and great songs.
