Music Lives!

Preview: The Strother Martins at the Wooly – September 28th 8:30

For those who love an eclectic musical mix, the Wooly is the place to be this Saturday night. The Strother Martins hit the stage at 8:30, with songs that run the gamut from The Beatles to 100 year old jazz standards, and all points in between. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because the Fergus band named themselves for famed character actor Strother Martin, perhaps best remembered for his line in Cool Hand Luke: “What we’ve got here is a failure to communicate.”

Unlike the characters in Cool Hand Luke, the Fergus duo has no such communication problems. From their hilariously self-aware Facebook videos, to describing their style as Music Eclectica, they know who they are, and what you see is what you get. This Saturday, they’ll be delivering deeper cuts from everybody’s favourite bands: Music Eclectica from Cole Porter to Gord Downie.
