Kazoo! & Wellington Brewery Present:
DijahSB //
dijahsb.bandcamp.com – Co-Presented by Riverfest Elora
Recalling the booming groove of early De La Soul and the calculated delivery of Missy Elliott and Pusha T, Toronto-based DijahSB is a quick-witted, smooth MC that delivers a unique blend of hip hop in their own effortless way. With a killer 2021 Polaris Prize shortlisted album, Head Above The Waters, to their credit, we are thrilled to be presenting their first Guelph show. This show is being copresented with our friends at RiverFest Elora.
Elaquent //
elaquent.bandcamp.com
Guelph is often known as a city of indie rockers and folkies, but it is also the hometown of one of Canada’s most prolific beat makers and producers. Soulful and introspective, Elaquent’s instrumental beats convey the self-reflective moments in which they were written. While his music recalls J Dilla and Kaytranada, Elaquent is in a league of his own.
Joyful Joyful //
joyfuljoyful.bandcamp.com
Joyful Joyful are a Peterborough/Toronto-based duo whose strange and beautiful soundscapes draw on traditional, sacred and experimental music. With an unbelievable new LP released earlier this year on idée fixe that does not sounds like anyone or anything else, Joyful Joyful takes a thicket of cables and effects and transforms a single, visceral voice into a shimmering and otherworldly chorus. These dense drone-hymns are at once sorrowful, soaring, and deeply moving.
Joseph Shabason //
josephshabason.bandcamp.com
Joseph Shabason is a household name at Kazoo! Fest. We have loved watching him grow from synth/sax player for DIANA to avant-jazz ambient heavyweight. While he has played saxophone with groups like Destroyer and the War on Drugs, it’s his solo and collaborative experimental work that really shines. Even though he’s currently busy scoring Netflix documentaries and CBC podcasts, we are truly excited that Joseph has made some space to join us for the final Kazoo! Fest.
