Neko Fakes began as a study of the gifted and enigmatic singer-songwriter Neko Case. Through the sputters and starts of the early days of COVID, the band began to get together and expand beyond just the Neko covers, adding original renderings to their repertoire. Erin Hamilton’s folk-country vocal stylings, backed by long-time musical collaborators Paul Farmer, Steve Hamilton and Court McRonald (Beautiful Senseless, Cardboard Nationals, Faux Manchu), and Mark Stuttman of “Folkway Music” fame, this five-piece delivers a sonically-diverse, alt-country vibe that sometimes broods, sometimes rocks, but always tries to feel those moments of authenticity.
