Samson Wrote & Justin Orok: “Birds of A Feather” Double Album Release Tour Alt-folk singer-songwriters
Samson Wrote and Justin Orok are on a collaborative album release tour, and will be sharing a sweet & gentle night of folk music at Silence on May 1. Samson Wrote—AKA Sam Boer (he/they)—is a musician, writer, and theatre practitioner. His debut album, Pigeon, was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award in the “Pushing the Boundaries” category and praised by Exclaim! as “prolific and expansive.” His single “Little Parts” was nominated for “Song of the Year” by Folk Music Ontario. His new album, In Season, was produced by JoJo Worthington; recorded with Juno-winner Scott Merritt at Guelph’s best studio, the cottaGe; and features an incredible array of musicians, including the Lifers’ Liv and Anita Cazzola, Annie Sumi, Zach Cockburn, and Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee Jeff Bird. In Season will be released on the 2025 summer solstice.
Justin Orok is a Toronto-based singer-songwriter best known for his intricate, character-driven narrative songwriting. His debut album Kanata, featuring Polaris-prize winning producer Jean Martin (Tanya Tagaq), was released to critical acclaim on Paraphenalia Records in Japan. Releasing in 2025 are two new recordings: Debt, a collection of cover songs by his mentors, and his sophomore full-length album.
