Jared Davison is a Kitchener-based electroacoustic composer known for exhaustively exploiting the sonic possibilities in limited sound sources in the creation of his works. Jared employs field recordings, found sounds, modified acoustic instruments and electronic processing to express a sense of unnerving otherness through his sound art. As founder and mainstay of the early 90’s industrial group, Mind Skelp-cher, Jared cut his teeth on experimentation with short wave radios, tape manipulation, toy instruments, metal percussion and other tools of the experimental music trade. His performance at Silence will feature a wide variety of sound sources; bowed, struck and vibrated metal percussion, field recordings, dulcimer, violin, short wave radio and more.
