DESCRIPTION:‘The Ward’: the unique and historic part of Guelph bordered by Elizabeth\, Victoria\, and the Eramosa River has become a vibrant and creative centre for artists and innovators. \nA remarkable group of those Ward creatives have gathered to share the wonders of  their ‘hood in a one-day festival Saturday Sept. 1st\, making use of 20 different venues\, all easily walkable or bikeable. \nMusic\, visual art\, theatre\, workshops\, food\, a craft market\, walking\, cycling and paddling tours\, kid’s activities and more will make this a day to remember.  With the ‘hub’ for the fest centred around the Double Rainbow Café at Arthur and Ontario Streets\, the many performances and activities culminate in an evening  performance featuring artists who have appeared during the day. SUMMARY:Jakob Durst Trio
DESCRIPTION:Jakob Durst is a young and devoted student of many musical forms. Although drawing his main influence from creative and improvised music\, namely the Black American Art-form “Jazz”\, he is also interested in a variety of other musical stylings such as Classical\, Latin\, and African music. Jakob’s primary instrument is the tenor saxophone\, however he has also learned and studied a variety of other instruments such as flute\, clarinet\, piano\, and most recently\, drums. The dedication Jakob shows towards music has lead him to study and perform with many great artists\, including Mike Murley\, Marianne Trudel\, Danny Janklow\, and more. Additionally\, Jakob was admitted to study at U of T’s prestigious Faculty of Music on scholarship\, and started his Bachelor studies this past fall. \nJakob will be joined by a rhythm section featuring a rotating guest list of Toronto’s finest drummers\, pianists\, and bassists.

Playing for companies like the National Bank Open\, Sportsnet\, TD Bank and the CFL. She has opened for Bif Naked at Canadian Music Week and performed at the London Music Hall. In recent years\, CJ placed second in the Music In Motion Awards\, has been awarded a “Community Hero Award”\, voted “Top Local Musician” in Guelph and was a Microgrant Recipient in 2023\, hosting a Women In Music charity show. Tonight CJ Cooper will be playing an assortment of upbeat covers and originals.
